As a child, my parents struggled to make ends meet. As a result, I wore hand me downs on a daily basis. It seemed like my household was a magnet for people compelled to offer us bags of used clothing. While some in my family were repulsed, for me it was like Christmas day. Something like a scavenger hunt! I greatly anticipated finding a new outfit to wear to school! That feeling soon turned into my obsession. Three decades later, treasure hunting or recycling still gives me an unrivaled rush of adrenaline. Second hand shopping is my passion and my hobby.
As a professional entertainer, I have been blessed to travel extensively. When I go to a new town, I check into my hotel, grab the yellow pages and call a taxi...it’s on!!! To the nearest thrift store!!
The old saying "One man’s trash is another man's treasure" is absolutely true. People donate or pass on things for a host of reasons. The hunt for me is half the fun. I get great satisfaction when purchasing something unique or unusual at a bargain price. Shopping second hand, you can find new, gently used and one of a kind treasures. This includes clothes, furniture, kitchen wares, electronic items, jewelry, appliances, books, my personal favorite..accessories and much more. The skies the limit!
The un-spoken blessing is what you give back. Recyling is a wonderful way to avoid un-necessary waste and un-clutter your home. Most thrift stores are connected with agencies that are helping and blessing people and causes everyday.
After years of transforming the homes of my friends and acquaintances, I have combined my passion for treasure hunting, my skills as a seamstress, my fix it/handyman ways and my stylish, creative eye for decorating and started this business. On these pages, you'll find some great tips on how to enhance your life for little or no money.
